ICT literacy of employees as a prerequisite for lifelong learning

This bachelor thesis analyses the ICT literacy of employees of an unnamed Czech company specializing in the sale of building materials. It focuses on their knowledge and skills in spreadsheets, specifically in Microsoft Excel. The main objective of the thesis is to evaluate the current state of ICT literacy of employees and then to propose recommendations that would lead to a possible improvement of the observed state. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the existing knowledge in the field of corporate education, types of literacy and informs about the possibilities of measuring computer literacy. The practical part provides the basic characteristics of the company under study and then analyses and evaluates the current state of ICT literacy of employees. The findings of this analysis are based on a questionnaire survey of 84 employees, which identifies the actual knowledge and skills used, together with their frequency of use. The main part consists of the results of tests to verify knowledge divided into different areas according to defined requirements. Employees were divided into two performance groups, according to the requirements for their level of knowledge and skills. Following these outputs, three recommendations were proposed that could lead to an increase in the level of ICT literacy of the company's employees and an overall increase in the efficiency of their work.

Irena Fialová, CSc. ABSTRACT This thesis analysis possibilities and directions of the development of digital literacy by preschool children. It describes the ways of creation and the construction of children's information-technology competencies in preparation for the first grade of elementary school. The theoretical part defines some basic terms such as digital literacy, ICT literacy and others, it describes specifics of development of the child's preschool and shows the possibilities of using of digital technology in nursery school. The practical part of the thesis investigates how information technologies are incorporated into the education of children in nursery school; it investigates development of information-technology competencies of children of preschool age by work on computer and by interview of children and of their parents. On the basis of the discovered facts are showed ways for the development of the information-technological competencies of preschool children. Student's motivation to learn topic of the educational area ICT for vocation (training school)

This diploma thesis is focused on pupils' motivation to learning in ICT at vocational secondary schools and colleges. The main educational goal of ICT as a subject is to develop pupils' ICT literacy. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with motivation as a pedagogical concept and appropriate teaching approaches to it. An analysis of ICT subjects in the curriculum of the Framework Education Programmes for vocational secondary schools and colleges contributes to form an integral part of the theoretical base. The empirical part is divided into three mini-surveys carried out at a vocational secondary school and training institution in Liberec. The first was a questionnaire for pupils to discover what motivates them to study ICT. The second was a questionnaire for teachers which aimed to find out if and how teachers apply and exploit pupils' ICT literacy in their teaching of vocational ICT as a specialist subject. The third element was interviews with ICT teachers with the aim of investigating how ICT teachers understand the role of ICT as a subject and how they develop their pupils' ICT literacy.
